Default 19psi on stock fuel system??uh oh

alright so my car has been at the mitsu dealership for a week now, and they finally got everything all figured out. I was having electrical problems and it turns out the rear body harness was melted because someone who had the car before me cut out a cd changer. interesting.

anyways,i dont know what turbo i have but im pretty sure its upgraded, i dont know what mods have been done to the car. i had them hook up my boost gauge, and he said it read 19 psi. on the stock fuel system. Im sure that can't be good. I just bought a 190lph pump and its installed now, but I'm guessing thats why my car ran like crap at full boost? what is safe boost level so I dont blow up my car when I get it back?

on stock fuel you should run around 15-16 psi MAX. Does your car have a boost controller?

its a 1998 GS-T. I hope the gauge is wrong, they didn't say they didnt know how to hook it up. btw, what does that mean if I was running 19 psi on stock fuel system? running really lean right? since I bought my car, it will accelerate until It hits full boost, then it really seems like its struggling to gain rpms. what would be an ideal psi to set it too?

well a guage is not hard to hook up go to www.vfaq.com if you want to see how to do it or check their setup.

yeah pretty sure I do. didnt know what it was at first so I took pictures of it and posted it sometime ago

https://mitsubishiforum.com/m_66138/tm.htm

don't know what brand it is, it has no markings on it

15-16 psi just stock? or alittle more with the walbro 190lph pump? not trying to go boost crazy, just want to know the limits so its not exceeded again.

yea thats not really any name brand but it sounds like to me if the boost guage is correct then you need to turn the boost down. Assuming you have a stock turbo, even though you think its not, then i wouldnt run more than 17 with the pump becuase after that the turbo becomes inefficient and you could hurt the turbo. Even if its a t28 then i would still stay around 17psi

alright, thank you. thats good to know. I've driven the car about 1500 miles with it like that, hopefully It didn't hurt it too bad. I didnt dare beat on it with the way it was running. Im still a newbie for the most part, so what are the consequences of overboosting like that anyways?
