1g timing belt problems

RE: 1g timing belt problems
Yeah that's about the only problem is when a belt goes it'll bend valves. It's MUCH cheaper to get it done regularly as required by maintenance than to have one snap on you. Also when you get the timing belt done get the water pump, and timing belt tensioner changed. The tensioner is a spring. Springs weaken with use. The spring weakens then the timing belt will eventually jump time and again you'll probably bend valves (And run shytty). Water pump... Same type of thing. WHy if you're already right there at the water pump to change the timing belt, would you NOT change it and save yourself the hassle of having to do the water pump later requiring you to pull the timing belt AGAIN. Just some food for thought.

Here is what happens if the belt breaks or major slip the cams stop moving which move the valves up and down for you intake and exhaust in the piston chamber well the piston continues to move and smacks the valves and bends the **** out of them it can also dmg the piston if the motor is left running.

The timing belt is NOT the problem- it's the people who install it incorrectly ... now THATS the problem.

RE: 1g timing belt problems
Most performance engines are interference fit- Many Honda's, Nissans, Toyotas, Audi's, etc.. are all interference engines. Only difference with Toyota's and Nissans are that they use timing chains on their interference engines.

RE: 1g timing belt problems
Just like the 1G I got. The timing bent valves due tot he timing belt tensioner going bad. The guy probably didn't have it replaced witht he belt and screwed himself in doing so.
