if it is possible than you have to take off the wiring, window, skeleton, hinges, electrical etc etc etc. that is... IF it's possible. you may also wanna check out www.mitsubishigraveyard.com call Gary that runs it. he can find one, mabey cheaper. also call www.cimotorsports.com and talk to Shawn, tell him that Ron w/ the eclipse refered you and he'll see if he can find one in his stock yard. hope this helps

ok... heres the scoop... a door is made in two peices, the outer skin being one of them... what it is is a piece of metalthat covers the outside of the door, it's glued on and the bent around the edges of the door to "hug" it...it order to take it off you need to cut the door, and "break" it off the glue... you then need to get the new skin, sand the edges down to bare metal, glue them, place the door skin back on, and hammer the edges of it to "wrap" it around the door... does that make sense? it sounds easy enough, but it is a pretty big job, and it costs a lot for do get a body shop to do it... I've done them before and its no cake walk. and sebba you are right, thats how they do the carbon fiber doors, same basic idea, only the edges are pre-bent so you just glue it on the door. It would be much easier just to buy a new door, that kind of a dent would take some pretty extensive body work which would include quite a bit of bondo that'll just make it heavier... and Ron, you wouldn't necessarily need to take out all the wiring in the door to replace the skin... you might wanna take the window out so the sparks dont screw it up from cutting off the old panel, but thats about it...

so hope that helped clear up everyone's questions

oh! and when first said "cut the door" in the beginning of that post, i meant the outer door skin so you can get inside the door from the outside to stick an air hammer inside to break the glue to seperate the skin from the door, my bad

yeah, like i said before. bringing it to a collision shop costs about 1600 dollars w/o tax and other charges that come along with it. they said the panel had to be replaced and so did the door handle. then the front and rear bumper as well as the door had to be painted to match the newly repaird door.

so i called a mitsubishi dealership and they charge almost 2 grand to get that done, claiming it would be almost perfect as when you bought it. (bull****)

finally, i contacted the junkyard and they charged 300 - 350 bucks for the door. then i was planning on getting the entire car re-painted which would be almost 1000+ depending on how nice i wanted it.

id rather do the last one instead of paying 1600 for one side.

get the door from the junk yard....cheaper for the door...Thats the best...instead of all the extra body work...that wont be perfect

getting a new door is the way to go! new handles are cheap and simple enough to install. check out those 2 places i told you about to see if they can get you anything cheaper, if not... it's not to terribly hard to get a shop to color match the door, it's more of a clearcoat issue. another option would be to have the door painted place it on there, get some very high grit sandpaper to wetsand the whole car, use some compound and buff it. that will bring the clear clear coat out and will match almost perfectly. that's what i would do. it's pretty easy to wetsand and buff. and besides the buffer it's a lot cheaper.

yeai just got a new door handle off ebay for like 20 bucks and it's just as good as a factory one... (my dad tried to open the door handle during winter while i was away at school... thought it was frozen up so he just pulled as hard as he could, breaking a piece of the handle off... turns out it was just locked.... parents...)
