The key is to know what to look for and dont buy a pos. What model are you looking for rs, gs, gst, or gsx?

a non-turbo eclipse is a great DD car. Most of the problems people have is with turbo cars that are not properly maintaned. But those GS's are good cars. Just check it over and take it for a test drive.

Some things to look for is obviously smoke from exhaust (never good). Check under the oil cap for signs of white goop (a decent ammount of it is a sign of a bad headgasket). Ask when general maintenance has been done such as timing belt. Which is one of the more important things to be done on an interference motor like these. You dont want one of those to break.

Other than that they are like any other 10 year old car, its gonna have its general stuff thatneeds replacing.
