420a 2.4
Can anybody tell me about swaping the 2.0 420a block with a 420a 2.4 block? what problem are there? I heard something with the RPMs and the hood space. I have a 98 eclipse... Has anyone done this before? How much work would be involved?
My Block has a stratch in it and i need two new pistons, anyone have any idea on what I could do to fix this and any idea what the cost would be?

RE: 420a 2.4
The 2.4l block will mostly bolt right up. Depending on which vehicle you acquire it from, you may need to modify the engine mounts slightly. The RPM problem is just that you can't rev the engine as high as the 2.0l due to the extra long stroke. Redline should be around 6500rpm, which is only a 500rpm difference....not really a problem. The reason for that is because the crank and rods aren't the strongest units in the world, but if you upgrade you'll be fine. Basically it's a drop in procedure, however easy that may be for some, it may prove difficult for others. Just get as many people as possible to help you with the swap, that way atleast someone will recognize any mistakes...hopefully.

RE: 420a 2.4
the 2.4l has 1 more hp than the 2.0l and it should be a 4g64 not a 420a.

i beleve the 2.4 was a 95-99 i know for sure it is in 97-99. in 95 there was no spyder so i think there wasn't a 2.4l but not sure on the 95 thing.
