Default 420a - 4g63 swap - new question

hey guys, you don't have to tell me all the bs that i would have to go through to swap the engine but i do have a different question... if i were to get a front clip (there is one available) from a gst, could i attach it to my GS? i can get the clip for 600 and i have a friend that would only charge me 200 to put it on. would this work? another question, i know the 4g63 in the EVO's are turned around (same direction as the 420a) i remember emonz saying that i couldn't be done, but why not?

I wouldnt take the clip and try it you will destroy your car. the EVO motor would require you to do alot of work just like the eclipse motor would

fair enough, i'll take your word for it. however i'm just curious what it would take? besides, motor, trani, ecu and probably a lil suspension in the front...

custom motor mounts tons of fab and maybe some firewall cutting. The evo motor is kindof weird compaired to the DSMs the intake manifold sits really slow in the back of the engine bay and the throttle is lowwer as well. the DSM intake manni is taller and come up to the point almost even with the valve cover

and as for the front clip. I think to do the swap you need the clip from a 1g. I could be wrong. But just from memory. And then there was some cutting of the engine bay. I think one person that did it used 1g motor mounts. But needed fabrication to have them fit right.

I was under the impression he wanted to cut his front clip out and fab the new one in. so it would be a two car for one. so that you couldnt do with a 1G

no no no no.... i was asking if i had the front clip from a 97-99 eclipse GST or GSX.... could i put that onto my 99 eclipse GS? so i'd be swapping front ends as an alternative of swaping out the 4g63 by itself

Yea that was my bad memory acting up. HAHA. Yea its all 2g stuff you need. Basically to do it you would need a complete 2g donor car. and a skilled welder. But your right you need the clip from a GST
