Default 420a engine replacement???

Hi...I am planning on putting a new engine in my 98 eclipse rs...I am just curious as to what engine I should put in there...I see everywhere about putting in the 4g63...I also see 420a longblocks, shortblocks, 2.2 strokers...

I plan on putting a hahns super16g turbo kit on the car...I want the engine to be able to handle a significant amount of power...I also plan on building the engine b4 it actually gets dropped into my car...Any suggestion will help...U can post on here or e-mail me at jonathan.stott@us.army.mil ....Thank you

you cannot swap the 4g63 in there so dont bother. If you really want to build up the motor you can but you can run that kit without the buildup at about 8psi. Anything after that youll needa built motor. The most you might want to get for the 8psi is a better head gasket and cams. It all depends on how much money you want to spend. If it were me i wouldnt want to spend anything on that engine since the turbo models are alot better with the 4g63. But its up to you

It will be much cheaper in the end if you just sell your car and get a GST/GSX and it will be faster.

like i said, you can run a turbo on that engine withouta full rebuild. Im not sure exactly what you get for HP out of it on the 8psi but i dont think its more than 250hp. Just make sure you have the headgasket done. Cuz youll be blowing those all the time with that boost. But there are plenty of people that boost these without problems.

Most people just dont want to spend the money on it because by the time your done with the basic stuff youll have spent over 3k-4k to turbo it and then alot more for a buildup

You can do it eaither way but just so you know If you have a GSX or GST you can get 250-300 out of it with pretty basic and inexpensive mods.

Okkk...We are a little off topic...What I really wanted out of the first post was to know what engine that I listed would be best for my 98 RS...I listed four of them...Nobody has said anything about a one of them except that I cant put the 4g63 in there...Okkk so what about the 420a long block...or the 420a short block...or the 2.2 stroker...

you already have a 420a long block, short block just refers to the block itself... and i dont even know if they make stroker kits for that motor. if you really have your heart set on it then just put stronger pistons and rods in

sk8 yes theymake strokers for yhe 420a and i already answered the question about short and long blocks. Becasue all that is, is building up your stock engine. You can get a stroker if you want, but like i said you can run a turbo without doing it. If you want to spend the money then obviously the stroker is the best you can get. Just FYI all a shortblock is, is the block itself, and a long block is the block and cylinder head combined.
