Default 420a upgrade

Hello Everyone. Ive got a 99 eclipse gs with the 420a engine. The engine is a rebuild and had the typical rebuild stuff done to it "bored, new rings, polished" but its nowhere near the power im looking for. Its already got all the easy mods done to it " headers back to the muffler, msd ignition, cold air intake", but I'm looking for more. I know they sell turbo kits for the 420a but would i be wasting my time? Should I give up on the 420a and try to do a swap? If so whats a good swap? Oh, I almost forgot, right now I'Mon a 2k budget for the engine mods.

thats the easy way out... but with 2k youre not gonna get it to move fast enough... you require engine rebuild, turbo kid, a GOOD timming to not screw it up and a good headgasket. Honestly the 420a requires a LOT of time, LOTS of money and headaches

Lets just say for instance you bought a turbo kit. So youll spend at least 2-3k on the kit and all the fuel and tuning device. Now you can only run about 8psi on the stock block. So now youve spent 3k and your only gonna get about 200hp out of the car. If you dont mind that then go right ahead. Also youll have to worry about the headgasket and reliability like they said.

IMO i would use the 420a what it is for, a good gas mileage car. Save up till you can get something with alittle more potential
