Default 4g swap in an rs

A friend of mine came across a 4g63 motor, bad head gasket, and told me I could have it free if I wanted it. He has a nissan truck, I have an eclipse, it just makes sense. Im thinkin about doin the work and beefin it up during the teardown, but first I wanna figure some things out.
~The first thing that comes to mind is will the 4g63 mount up to my tranny or will I have to beg around for one?
~How dificult would it be to do a 5spd swap (clutch and all) if it doesnt mount to my tranny?
~Has anyone here successfully done the swap that can point me in the right direction? I dont wanna go thru with resurfacing the head, getting forged pistons, and the usual .020 bore if I cant drop it in over a weekend.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Are you talkin about the evo 4g63 or the eclipse/talon 4g63. If you're swapping the engine into a base eclipse (rs i assume from your post) The eclipse/talon 4g63 won't work. Its flipped 180 degrees with the pulleys on the driver side and the tranny mounting on the passenger side. The evo engine however will fit, but certain things will have to be worked you will have to also swap the tranny to the evo one, as well as the transfer case, rear end, possibly the front axles/hubs. Its a big job but can be done. Just not with the eclipse/talon motor

it is such a big job that to make it easy we are just going to tell you, NO it can not be done. You will pay less to sell your RS and just buy GS-t or GSX. The Evo engine will not fit. The few people who have done a 4g63 swap into a 420a engine bay used the pre 2000 4g63. So in other words the flipped Evo motor will not be the one you would use unless you are talking a RS eclipse with the 4g64 engine. in which case you can swap the Evo head onto the black and have a 2.4L evo motor essencailly

Damn, well I figured it wouldnt hurt to ask with a free motor. Yea it was a 98 gsx 4g motor. A buddy of mine did the 6bolt/7bolt swap into his gsx and had this 4g left over. Bad head gasket. Figured a friend of mine (mechanic) could keep it in his shop for me and tear it down, while the heads are gettin resurfaced I woulda had it bored out and prolly put forged pistons and anything else I woulda gotten my hands on.

Anyone want a 4g motor? Ill see how much he wants for it if anyones interested.
