why does my car pop out of gear in 5th when i press the gas the guy before me put a short throw shifter in it and also told me it has a talon tranny in it any ideas? tips? it does it more at highway speed 55+ and 2700rpm.

 

Check the shift linkage and make sure its adjusted properly. If thats good then you probabaly have a bad syncro.

 

probably a dumb question but how would one go about checking the shift linkage and what would be the procedure for adjusting it.

 

do you always grind the clutch meaning you always don't step properly on the clutch pedal that causes for the synchro to be miss.

Try changing the GEAR OIL first and put Lucas additives. do not open the transmission if you are not sure about the problem. because once you open the transmission will never be the same it might even leave a hump on the transmission

tranny are a pain to fix once your tranny is acting I would suggest to trade in the car.
my opinion only it is up to you.

 

some one told me to adjust the linkage are there simple adjustments ?

 

any ideas? i added the lucas to the tranny just wonderin on how to adjust the linkage.
