So I am not exactly sure on this what is the difference between a 6 bolt short block vs long block is it just 2.0 vs 2.4 or is it something else?

a short block is the block with pistons- the long block is just about everything u need to put the motor in except fo all of the pullys (ac, alternator, p/s) u would need to take all of that off of ur old blockand some covers (valve cover, timing cover normally)

In a simple answer

Short Block = just the block with internals
Long block = both the block and cylinder head.

thats it
