6 bolt motors were in the 1G eclipse 4G63 but not all 1Gs. it is more relieable than the 2G motor with no worries of crankwalk. the Motor in the 2Gs and late model 1Gs was reffered to as a 7Bolt which was built by chrysler and is know to crankwalk. the 6bolt 7bolt reffers to the number of bolts on the flywheel I beleive

And I am sure there are other reasons to swap a 6bolt in but I dont know them and maybe clear up anything I might not be correct with, ill leave that to the DSM guys

Stock yes but after that the 6bolt is stronger to modds. if you have a 7bolt and it is going to walk I know it cant take as much as the 6bolt before the stock bottom end is too weak.

I am not sure of the ways to fix crankwalk, I think it is bearings and crank but not possitive what the fix is other than a 6bolt swap. I have never owned a DSM (at least untill the EVO if you wanna count it as a DSM) so im not sure

with that kind of labor its best to replace the whole short block, or if you dont want to ever worry about it again you just swap in a 6 bolt, which are cheaper anyway.
