Hi, having a problem with my 96 spyder. Okay, I am a girl so please forgive me, I don't know anything about cars. I don't know proper names from anything.

Okay, my problem. My shifter is stuck in park. I usually start the car, step on the brake, and then push down on the center of the shifter to shift the car into either reverse or drive. But now when I push down on the center of the shifter, it does nothing. It will not go down so that I can shift it into drive or reverse. Can anyone please help me? Thank you
