Default '97 Spyder Top Trouble

Question :

The top on my 1997 Spyder is starting to give me some problems. It is taking longer to open and close the and I'm sure the motor is starting to go. Aside from replacing it right away, is there any way to prolong the life of the motor ? Make is stronger ? Any lube I can spray in there to make things work smoother ? Where to apply the lube ?

Thanks
