Default 98 2.0 non turbo mtx?

I pulled a bolt out of the front of my manual transaxle, under the impression that it was the drain plug. Turns out it was not, now i can not get it to go back in. I beleive that it might hold a bearing/bushing in place, but not sure at all. I will do my best to describe its location: bottom, front, on driver's side case half, single bolt all by itself going stright into case. The head of the bolt is a 12mm and about 2in long. The hole is about an inch deep before it stops(now), before the treads were down in there about one inch.
thanks for any help.

Yeah I dont know, your best bet is to try using a small screw driver and line it back up? Also get that oil leak fixed lol.

Does the bolt look snapped? From this angle it looks like you snapped that bolt. The "dead end" isn't smooth, instead it looks like it has a broken bolt in it. I don't know what is in there either, sorry.

Thank you both for your reply. I did get the bolt back in and I want to post on here how i did incase somebody else does the same thing. This bolt has somthing to do with the reverse gear, its position is right below reverse gear and assembly. simply place the car on jack stands, start it up, put it in reverse, put a small screw driverin the hole untill the treaded hole comes back around. shut off car and replace bolt.
or
Don't make my mistake in the first place.
thanks again guys
oh yeah that oil on the tranny and engine serves two perposes; one keeps the aluminum from rusting; and two, keeps the oil always new. I have not done an oil "change" in 30,000 miles!just add more.

Awesome! Thanks for your update too. This makes for a good reference if it happens again with someone else.
