98 Eclipse - should I part it?
I have a 98 eclipse rs that was sported out quite a bit - ground effects, spoiler, fresh paint, etc. It's on its second engine at 45,000 miles. The transmission was rebuilt when the second engine was put in. At about 30,000 miles, the engine was waterlocked and broke the connecting rod. We rebuilt the engine and since then it runs rough at idle - still sounds good and runs good at any rpm above idle. The starter recently busted off and when it did, it chipped a piece off the clutch housing. Other than that, the car is in good shape. I've done enough work on it and I'm to the point that I want to get rid of it. My question is this - should I fix it all up and sell it as a good sound vehicle, sell it as a part car, or tear it down to nothing and sell each piece. I'm looking for the best route to the most money. I know there are a bunch of these cars running around out there so parting one out isn't necessarily commiting a crime. I have the time, space, and knowledge to take it apart. I just hate destroying a car that could potentially be fixed for a reasonable price. On the other hand I'd hate to sell it for 2k knowing if I part it I can most likely gather up a little more money than that.
Any and all advice welcome.
Thanks in advance!
