if you have a 1st gen gst you have a b14 turbo, if you have a 2nd gst you have the t25 turbo. the turbo runs 11-12 psi stock, and you can safely run 15lbs , but to be safe get a fuel pump first an 16 psi wouldnt even hurt. But considering the fact that you dont know what the boost is at im guessing you have no boost guage. boost controller + no boost guage = engine damage.

Def get a gauge before you do a boost controller, that's def a bad idea, it's worth the extra money for the gauge to not blow up your engine.

of course, i don't want to blow up the engine, so i'd install the gauge at the same time as the controller

No stock they have these things around 13-14 PSI if you lucky you get a 13 PSI one so that when you put on your BC it will make it be a lot faster. You can run it at 15 PSI, but When I put my MBC on it is now running around 19 PSI because of a spike, but with other mods like exhaust and stuff you'll usually run over 15 PSI.

NO stock they run 11-12 psi , for the 2nd gen eclipse the stock BOV leaks at around 12-13 psi anyway

I figured that's what you were planning on doing. That's what I'll probably do when I get some extra cash to play with.
