Default bad day at the strip

last night i went to the last drag race night at PIR, and on my fourth run, right before the finish line, my car full on dies. There were no big bang noises, clinks or clanks, the revs just dropped to zero and i coasted off the track.
I have good compression, the timing belt is fine, and all the mechanical stuff is in working order. Fuel is good too. The problem is definately electrical, and most likely the distributor from what ive tested, but ive got a question to make sure my testing is right. I tried using a DVOM to test the voltage and resistance on the distributor, but both of mine are broken and give me completely random read outs. So i tried using a test light while having someone crank over the engine, and i got nothing from all 4...

I disconnected the plug from the distributor, and one of the three connections had power with the ignition on(not cranking), So im thinking the problem is the distributor went out. Im doing more tests later when i have help again, but my question is-

was using the test light good enough to test what was coming out of the distributor?

just swap out the coils and see if that works.. If you get them at autozone, and they don't work, you can always return them.

Well its not the coil. What ive tested so far is coil pack, power transistor, all the connections, plugs, and wires. Only things left to check are the crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor....oh yeah and the TDC sensor...[&:]
