Default basic rebuild

hey everyone... I started my head gasket job today and I've run into a few problems. First off I was retarded and didn't relieve the fuel pressure before i drained the oil.. yeah i'm retarded, but how much fuel is going to come out when I take the fuel rail off? Secondly, my valve cover is stuck on tighter than.. well you know.. and I don't want to pry it off and because it is chrome i don't want to hammer it off... any suggestions? thanks everyone

do you have a chisle, because its a rubber gasket so there will be a little room. all i did when i did the fuel was take the fuel line off the rail and a little was poured out. so not a whole lot will come out. hope this helps.

thanks brother. I just sucked it up and did it.. Barely anything.... I can't get my damn head bolts off though.. it seems like the sockets are just rounding them off... and that is the last thing I want to do. Any advise?

Use an impact wrench and a good socket. a decent socket will be like 6-9 bucks. Dont cheap out on this(even tho its already less than 10 bucks), because ive noticed in the past that some sockets will actually fit better than others.

i think sears even sells a type of socket thats got more or less sharp teeth on the inside that actually 'cut' into the bolt so it doesnt slip, if you dont have any luck with ordinary sockets, you might want to check those out

Gator grip socket can take out the bold if it is stripped. Not sure if it would fit in the area your talking about though

i just used a craftsman 12 point socket with no problems with my stock ones or my ARP ones i installed on the race motor. i think you HAVE to use a 12 point socket.

haha yes you do have to use a 12 point... took me a couple trips to the parts store swapping sockets to figure it out... Its off... a day later... everything looks fine I just have to swap some stuff to the new head. Any advice on getting the cam gears off? Also, Is there any easier way to get all of the timing components off than to just keep lifting and lower the engine.. It just seems like a pain in the ***.. I'll let you guys know how it turn out though. haha anyone want some glorious pics of my empty engine bay?
