Default Belts of death

Ok so everytime i start my car up for about 15/30 seconds it Squeals like a pig... well thats not true, only when its cold and i havnt driven it in like 6 hours. anyway I always thought it was my alternator belt because i have a constant battery drain and if i dont drive my car every 2 to 3 days the battery is completely dead. what also gives me these thoughts are after i first start it up if i turn my headlights and defroster on in the first say 2 to 3 minutes of driving it will start squealing really bad again. any thoughts on what i can do to fix this or anything

My first guess would say spray some belt dressing on there... it could be you need a new battery if its not holding a charge...

mine did the same thing for a while. after not driving for about 4-5 hours when i start it it would squeel badly for about a minute. turned out i was missing a chunk out of one of the belts. if i were you i would just replace them. couldnt hurt.

I also HAD the same problem.

So heres how I went about it. (This is in a 420A engine)
Ran down the belt making the noise. It was the serp. blet, not the alternator belt.
I replaced the belt, still made noise.
Replaced the tensioner pulley. Seems the bearing was dry as a brick (terrible analogy), and then presto! noise gone.
Try it, may work for you.
