i have heard of the companies but haven't heard any reviews. do you have another driver??? if so this would be a good time for you to look into a 6 bolt swap. . . if that was in your future.
From what I gather thus far the Scat rods are a good choice (Good up to around 600 HP and I believe it's a quote on slowboyracing). The crank you've selected one person said that it's the cheaper alternative to the OEM crank.
I like the fact that the scat rods all have ARP hardware on them VERY good thing there.
All right more from the sources I have. One guy says take your crank to a machine shop and have it checked. He rebuilt a 4G63T with over 177K miles and the crank only had 1 small score that was polished out. They cranks are fairly stout so even a junkyard one would probably be fine. Save you a little extra $ if you know what I mean

Woah Woah Woah!!! LOL let me get this straight. I can turn this current car into a 6 bolt by butting a sixbolt crank in it with six bolt rods? If so im all for turning it into a 6 bolt without the slightest hesitation.
But yeah the Rods sound good to me since ill probably never tip 400 hp anyways, i just want something that is built to hold up.
Now if the crank is a seven bolt ill have a shop look at it beacuse like i said i did not run the car afterwards just a couple idles for the local import shop thats all. ( the import shop have there asses on backwards so i WILL NOT take it to them) but im def trying to save money where i can but im tired of cutting corners and just want to do it right. You all know where im coming from lol
But thanks a ton for the input so far

no no no no no, you will have to buy a 6 bolt block but i'm just saying that if you planned on swapping it down the road when your crank walks (shouldn't take to long if ur gonna be pushing 400hp) than this would be a good time to do it because the car is already of the road and you have to take the engine out. you cant NOT turn a 7 bolt into a 6 bolt just by putting a new crank in it lol
Okay well only one shop around here will do that since the amout of work thats need. How long to you ESTIMATE it would take to preform something like this. I know its impossible to tell i just want a roungh idea what to expect
Are you doing the motor swap or the rebuild? Rebuild probably a week or so if there are NO complications and little other work for the shop to do. Otherwise I would plan for a month or so. The difference in the 6 bolt and 7 bolt was the machining process for the block itself. The crank just ends up being the easiest way to tell which block you have. Also as long as you're not going to be pushing massive amounts of power (400 HP isn't cheap to get to.) you shouldn't have a problem with the crankwalk. Just don't beat the hell outta the engine and she'll hold together for quite some time I'm sure.
okay well my friend has a talon TSI or whatever and he'll sell me the engine for 1500 with everything. how hard is it to swapand how long would you say with 3 people who really know what there doing. My freinds dad will drop it in and he knows everything there is about cars, he builts topfuel racing engines lol
