Default cacking slound?

I just bought a 99 GSX and when you first start the car it makes a clacking sound. But, when the car warms up it goes away. I cant tell if its the tranny or what. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Sounds like noisy lifters. Check to make sure your oil level is correct, but as long as it goes away after a few seconds it's nothing to worry about. Actually seems to be the norm if you run synthetic. Also, if your car has high milage and you're running 5w oil it's time to move to 10w, especially if it's synthetic.

Thanks I will definitley look into that as well. The sound appears to be coming from the tranny. The guy I bought it frokm says the motor was replaced and the mechanic that he took it to says that its probably like a broken tranny mount or something but I have no clue. I havent really had a chance to really look at. But even after it warms up it drives fine too.
