Default CAI Questions

I just bought a 97 GSX and I can't find a good CAI system for the vehicle. Please help me out with this. Also I'm going to be doing a high flow downpipe with a high flow cat with 2 1/2" pipes with a flowmaster 50 maybe 40 muffler for a new exhaust. My ride has 60,000 miles on it and it does have a turbo. What are good plugs and wires as well??? Thank You

ok for the CAI i would go with injen. They make one of the best and quality intakes. If you are upgrading the downpipe then you must upgrade the entire exhaust piping becuase you cant decrease in piping size as it flows down. Good plugs if you want the expensive ones they are the NGK's or the denso iridiums. But i have used normal denso's and they have worked for me.

I can tell you right now, do not invest in the Nology Hotwires... they are made out to be some great new technology... I paid about $140 for them and nothing has changed from the regulars previously in the car. Save yourself some money there.

As for the other stuff, I have no opinion.. never delt with the turbo engines. Sorry dude.

With a GSX all wheel drive can you actually do a 3" exhaust system?? I've looked at greddy and apexi sites and have not found a system for the GSX only the GST. I also want an agressive mellow rumble sound for the exhaust not a 'large mosquito' sound. Also whats a DSM???

DSM is Diamond Star Motorsports. Basically the 1g's and 2g's. I could get more specific but that the gist of it. As for the 3" exhaust, you definetly can do that on the AWD model. I would say to just get a 3" apex catback system then get a downpipe and testpipe (either 2.5" or 3"). The catback systems should be really easy to find.

Try extremepsi.com or dsmparts.com

those are two good sites

Diamond Star Motors not motorsports. (Look at the plate on the eclipse's firewall and you'll see it ). Quite frankly I don't think they make a 3" for it. I myself am going to be doing a 2.75" exhaust on my Conquest most likely. That's due to spatial restraints. If I do a 3" exhaust it will rattle agains the body and suspension.
