What Kinda cams are a good brand for a lower price? and what brands are recommended?

 

I like the Webcam or Crower cams.

 

webcams are decent, make huge power but you really should have a tuning device for them. HKS are great cams, no idle problems like the webs can have and are very streetable. I dont like crower just because my friend broke a set in half at the fault of the cams. But then again, webcams are just regrinded crowers.

 

BTW, what are your mods, you shouldnt ever need to get cams until you are running at least a 16g turbo, 660's or bigger injectors, and running 12's or faster. Cams wont do much at all until this point.

 

i Talked to my macinest i am overhauling the motor in my 2g GS so there are no mods yet. I am not going to turbo this car i am getting a 1g gsx/gst to do that with i just want a looks car for now. anyways we are going to bore the motor .25-.30 over it will be like a new longblock when i get it back he said that if i wanted to get the high preformance cams to buy them online because it would be cheeper for me if not he would have to mark them up about 25%. the reason for doing this to my car is to have a reliable car that has some power but is not to much of a gashog.

 

What about Crane Cams are they good?

 

cams are a waste of money in a gs, but you can go ahead if ya want

 

If you are looking for fuel mileage, don't go for cams. Just make it breathe a little easier. Your ecu will compensate by adding more fuel regardless. Engines are a series of comprimises, you are looking for a little more power without adding much fuel.

 

Another thought, If you increase the spark with plugs, wires, coil, that sort of thing you will get better mileage because you have better combustion.
