The shop I used to work at charged $89 or 99 flat out. No hour labor. And remember it's a commercial grade cleaner. You won't be able to get it at Auto Zone or whatnot. And there is no part that you but it's only the chemical you pay for the tool to allow the cleaner into the intake the shop SHOULD have already.

Now hold on a second... I didn't work at an oil change place. I worked in a full service shop thanx. It USED to be an oil change place but the owner had 1 pit covered and had 2 lifts installed.

Didnt say you were an oil monkey ......Just thought it. No ill call around but i dont have a mechanic or auto shop that i trust around here...kinda sucks when you do all your own work and find something you cant do on your own.

Yeah yaeh.... It is a B**** when you can't get what you want done. Especially when you KNOW it's out there to be done.

carbon buildup is normal. how about dont touch it. do a compression test and if thats fine then you have nothing to worry about. the only way it could be a problem is if its not letting your valves seat properly, and thus you would be losing compresion.

How about not. A thing called preventative maintenance PREVENTS the costly problems you'll now encounter because you didn't bother to clean things regularly. Saying leave the carbon buildup because it's normal is akin to saying don't change your oil cuz thermal breakdown is normal. Thanks but no I think I'll clean things and not suffer problems at a later date.

I do at regular intervals. Approximately every 40K. And good luck to you when you're doing a rebuild cuz your valves are all gunked.

Well i dont know how may of us have actuley riped a head apart but unless you are burning oil carbon build up isnt such a big issue i rebuild my motor in my GS and the carbon build up wasnt bad at all and it had 120K now before the flames come the reason i had to rebuil is becuse the dumb *** that owned the car before me striped out the spark plug put a heley coil in it but put it in too far and it mushroomed and bent all 4 valves. so when you are talking about carbon build up messingthe motor up from my own exsperance with motors i would say by the time it happened the motor is due for a overhaule anyways.
