hey i need help with the wiring because the owner before me cut it to peices. what wires run to the speakers front and back. and power ground and accs

 

you can find the speakers using a 9V battery just take 2 wires and touch them to the positive and negative of the battery when you hear a scratchy noise those are the two wires for the speakers. use a volt meter to find the power and whatever one is left is the ground..... had to do that on my accord its a pain but its the only way i know of it. BUT if the person before you cut the wires did he install and aftermarket head unit? if he did leave the wires he had attached i think they are all color coded the same....

 

Another easier on the ears way of doing it is using the voltmeter to find the power the turn the key on and find the main power (The power line you'll find with the key off is the constant 12 that will keep all your setings while the car is off usually the yellow wire on the aftermarket radio plug) turning the key on will give you the power to turn on the radio the ground you will have to use the ohm function on the voltmeter instead of volts to find the wire that give you as close to 0 resistance as possible. After figuring THOSE out go ahead and hook power up to the radio from the car and start touching them to ones close in color till you get the right combo. If you still haven't figured it out by the time I get my '92 (What year is yours anyways?) up here in VA I'll start working on my stereo and give you a definate list of what is what.

 

i would say the easy way of doing this is to: got to a junk yard clip there sterio plug from the same year of car than go and match the colors of the wires on your harness and the plug.

 

Or you could do it the way get said LOL that'd prolly be easier...

 

its not going to be loud if you put a 9V battery on the speaker wires it will be very faint...... and some people dont live near a junkyard the closest from my house is more then an huor away and it only takes about15 minutes to do it the way I said but do what you want

 

the only reason i would go to the junkyard and do it is i like **** done right not half assed not saying anyone is a half assed person just the way i am. also if you get the orginal plug back in there all you have to do when u swap the head unit is go buy a 20 dollar connection that goes from the harnness to the sterio plug saves time in the future and if you dont know how to wire stuff very well it can save some peole a headunit.

 

I agree the harness makes things MuCH easier to swap radios out. And if you're changing the head unit you won't have to buy the harness adapter again all you have to do is cut it off the old stereo and put it on the new one. Saves $ and time.

 

Yea the way i explianed is pretty half *** but i dont live anywhere near a junkyard thats why i exlpained it that way. Getting a factory wiring harness and just matching up the wires, then getting the aftermarket is the easiet way to do it, you can just label what wires are what and make them longer, then just match them with the color coded new ones, if you wanna switch again just cut the color coded ones and you are right where you would be anyway its not half ***, its just an alternative way of doing it. It might sound a lot more time consuming but its really not that bad. But whoever posted this in the first place do whatever you want i would get the factory one and match it up though if you dont have any experience messing around with electrical stuff i agree there.

 

There is no cutting involved in the way i explained it. I may have said it wrong there is an adapter at any sterio shop that one end goes from the stock harness to a standerdized plug you than buy a plug that goes from that plug to the sterio plug so it is snap and go no custting ever! (good for people that dont like or dont want to wire every head unit) and dude i wasnt calling anyone half assed i just like stuff done so it is the way it was before. not trying to personaly attack anyone here.
