Where to begin....

For a n/a car you want back pressure to build hp so a 2 inch restictive exaust is something that would give you more gains

The 420a only has 140bhp, and most 420a eclipses are getten high miles meanning that not many have that hp, loss of compression due to wear

The car can hold 100 shot of n2, some kids on 2gnt.com shoot 125 on the stock bottom end... it dosent last long but you can get some runs in.

N/a Mods are alot like masturbating... your fu3ken your self, their is no possible way to obtain 200hp on boltons with out either rebuilding the motor or n2.

The stock ignition on the 420a is good up to 15psi wise for n/a mods if you dont have cams dont bother getting a msd anything its a waste of money.

Turbo is deff the way to go on a 420a if your looking for performance. If you want performance out of a n/a car get ready to pay... if you dont drive a 97 then forget about it. The ecu pinouts for everyyear are different on the 420a eclipse/talon. Howellautomotive.com is the only company that currently makes a chip/ecu for the 420a eclipse/talon and its for 97's only. Gary(owner of howell) refuses to make it for anyother year becuase the profit isant there. The chip runs about 400 bucks and offers alot, but its ideal for the drag cam kit that crane makes for the car.

You mentioned that you want to get as close to 200 hp as you can before you turbo it, lots of mods that you do would have to be removed for this, (hotter plugs, hedder, ect) in reality your wasting money. What you should do is figure out exactly what you want from the car, either a track time or a non specific goal(fun street car). After that decide what would be the most reliable cost efficent way to obtain that. Say if you want a mid 14 sec run go 2nd stage turbo, not a **** load of boltons. If you want a fun street car, and dont mind only running a 16 sec 1/4 mile then bolt the hell out of it.

I recomend that you read both stickys at the top of this forum. gs/rs performance, and how to build a track terror 420a. Also on www.2g nt.com(remove the space) and check out their performance guid for n/a motors. Also checking out gsgoingfast custom turbo kit on dsm tuners.com(remove space) and corbins 420a build up on 2g nt.com(remove space) will also shead light on the subject.
