Chokeing the chicken
Hi I have a eclipse gsx with evo 3 turbo and full supporting mods except afpr I have two problems with my car and dont know how to fix them. the first one is that my car is running really rich and i only get 9mpg and the other is that when i driving and have my foot on the gas my car will act like i let go of the gas and the BOV willl sound and then bog down and jerk of i continue to hold the gas down. this happens at 3.5-4 RPM in every gear. if i press the gas so my boost stays at 0 or in HG i can go past the 4k mark no problem . Pleasee help i have no idea what is wrong and i dont think it is fuel cut becasue this has never happeneed to my car b4 and i norm run 23psi no problem.
Thanks a million

RE: Chokeing the chicken
i have a greddy bov, my cel is not on, i have dsmlink but it is not tuned because my constent power does not work for some reason. i am venting to the atmosphere. i did a Boost test and everything is fine with that.

RE: Chokeing the chicken
i'd say the other half is tuning. throwing a different turbo on a car it's not made for w/o tuning is like throwing a differenc ECU on it.... recirk the bov and get a tune (even a simple one) and you'll be fine. do you have a wideband for tuning? if not most shops have one they can just plug in for tuning purposes but it would be a good idea to have one, along w/ a boost and egt gauge.

RE: Chokeing the chicken
Seriously now.
You need an AFPR if you have an upgraded fuel pump and larger injectors. Since you stated that you don't have an AFPR, I'm going off the normal issues with not having one and running a 16g.
Are you saying that your car does not have constant power to support ECU "memory"?
Check all your fuses in both compartments. Do you have an aftermarket "system"? If so, disconnect it for the time being for troubleshooting. Disconnect it especially if the headunit wasn't installed with Metra (or similar) wiring harness...in other words, rigged.
Are you running rich through the entire RPM range or just during shifts? If it's just shifts, then that because you're VTA.
List your current mods please, to get a better "view" of what may be happening.
Look at this FAQ too.
