Default Clicking sound from under the hood(HELP)

Hey, I have a 1998 eclipse syder. The car makes a clicking noise under the hood when running. When you hit the gas it seems to go away but after its sits for a min(like at a stoplight) it comes back. Sometimes after you start going it stays for a few minutes but then fades out again. Any opinios?? Maybe the oil pressure is not high enough when its at idle? Please help me out. Thanks, Justin

the same thing is happening to my car. I think it is just the fuel injectors making the noise. if you want you can get them cleaned.

though it could be mis matched bearings in the crank shaft, aslo well known to dsm owners as "crank walk"

read up on it here and be informed of this crank walk, http://members.shaw.ca/costall/1000Q...hatiscrankwalk

dont scare him heh. if it was crankwalk you would only get that click when you press in on the clutch, and you would have problems with your clutch pedal sticking to the floor after a left turn before the clicking ever happened. sounds like lifter tick. try different oils and it may help the problem but its probably not doing any damage

No kidding JEEZ crankwalk has a completely different set of symptoms. You're gonna get this guy to sell his before he's even got 100 miles of his own on it LoL. It definately sounds like a lifter ticking then again it COULD be a rod but I ighly doubt it. I believe those get louder faster you go.

ok, thanks for the opinions, I know its not crankwalk. It just does not sound like it is coming from the lifters. Maybe it is though. Ok, so how about the oil, I have so far used penzoil, and castrol, Both 10w30. Heavier weight 10w40?? 20w50?? How about syntec?? I really hate that sound and if it does not go away, away goes the car?? I really like the car but need the clicking to stop, so let me know about the oil.

i dont know what 'temp' he is referring to but the thicker the oil the less 'tick' you will hear. you may have to experiment with brands but i would try 20w-50. do you use synthetic already? if you do dont go back to regular, once you use synthetic you need to keep using it

ok, thanks. No I have not used synthetic yet, I was going to try 10w40 first then move to 20w50, If that does not work then I will use synthetic.
