would a vaccum leak increse idle? i have a 98 gst 5spd and i just have ur standard mods, i,e. mbc and intake. i jsut replaced my iac motor with a used one. it fixed my check engine light but i have like a 1500rpm idol now. everyone in awehile itll go down to 1000rpm. but when i idle at 1500rpm im vac at 20. so when i go down to 1000 im at like 16vac. which i know for sure is wrong. would my tps have anything to do with it?. im not 100perent sure it is exactly where is is suppsed to be as far as adjustments.

it definetly could be the TPS. i would put the BISS back where it was before and then try and adjust the tps.

Usually in a problem like this i would go right to the IAC first but since you already did that the other culprits can be the TPS and the TB flapper being stuck from beingtoodirty. Also sometimes the coil on the TB can get rusted and old. I used to have to spray some WD-40 on it and then rev it a couple times then my RPM's would drop. Couple things to check that are free and easy.

yeah im deff looking for free and easy fixes right now lol. could my tb spring being to tight have anything to do with it?. i recently rebuilt my tb and did it the right one, use the right grease on the tb shaft seals and so forth. so my tb is def clean cause i celan the crap out if it tb cleaner. the first imte i took the srpings off i didnt use antything to mark it casue i wasnt thinking at all. so i kinda guessed it and redid it a couple time. also is there any way to tell if ur tps sensor is on its way out the door?. or jsut adjusting it fix it. and ill deff try the wd 40 thing cause it used to be so high.

Im assuming your talking abt the engine oil??? Valve cover, oil pan gasket and oil return line from the turbo to the pan I would say are the most common on a dsm.

*Btw can you work on writing whats going on b/c its kinda hard to follow what your saying.

Yea the oil pan gasket shouldnt be too hard. With the ammount of oil your talking about that would be where id start to look. With that fast rate i would think youd even see it dripping under the car or at least see where a puddle is after its been sitting.

and for the TPS testing

An oil pan gasket on a gst should be easy just drop the exhaust. The gsx's are a little more involved.
