Default Dim Headlights on upper beam ???

I am having problems with the headlights on my daughters 2000 Eclipse

The low beam is ok… However high beam causes the headlights to become very dim. Almost like it is shorting out. Probably getting about 1/3 of the power needed.

I also had to replace the plugs that go to the headlamp bulbs. They had melted.

I am thinking maybe somewhere along the wiring harness the wire to for the upperbeam got hot and melted into the ground wire

Just wanted to see if any of you had a similar problem and if you did how did you repair.

Thanks for your help!

Default Dim Headlights on upper beam ???

I ran into this problem with my 97. my left head light would almost go OUT when I hit the brights. problem was... bad connection. the wire were just grounded so there would be a little light coming out. I took this to mitsu, DON"T DO THAT! they ran their little comp check s**t for an hour and said." I don't know" good waste of $84. go to a local guy that knows wiring, ended up costing me $184 total. (including the wasted hour of my life)
