RE: dont know what to call this post...
Junk yards are good places to look for things like that. If you want new and don't want to pay dealership prices (who does?) check with Auto Parts Warehouse, Rockville Mitsu, Norco Mitsu (you will have to click on tab "Part/Service" tab and then the "order parts" tab). I've ordered OEM parts from these guys and they were at least 1/2 of what the local dealerships were. Bolts were even cheaper than my local Mitsu dealership, sad if you ask me. If the previous owner let the motor "go" and oil was flung onto that fire blanket, it will eventually sag or just fall off from the added weight of the oil + dirt.
Nomenclature = Hood insulator
Part # = MB913318
PNC # = 61468
Then you have the clips
Nomenclature = Hood insulator clips (imagine that, lol)
Part # = MB020923
PNC # = 61421
These part #s only work with the Mitsu sites I listed.
Good luck bud.

no, they were saying for you to just buy a carbon fiber hood.
They have vents, to let heat out, are lighter, and look damn cool.
If you dont like the raw carbon look, they can also be painted.
On the converse end, you can always just remove this piece thats hangin down. Its only functional purpose is for sound deadening. You most likely wont even notice a diffrence.
Yank it if you want, or buy one from a junkyard.
IMO, you should go with the carbon fiber
