i can sell you a spare valve cover from my eclipse (i painted a new one) for 25 bucks plus shipping. transmission is expensive no matter what you are doing, i'd do something to rig it and then sell it, fast. you won't get anymore than 3k out of it if somebody knows there's a trani problem. as for the valves... head work isn't cheap either. why did you buy this car for 5k with these problems? for the vavles and trani i'd say close to 2k to fix both... at a shop.

That is exactly why I bought it for 5k. I found a fouler on the spark plug. and as soon as that started acting up is when I heard the valve start to slap the piston. And the tranny part I think is my fault, either that or its a result of (really, really) poor engine performance because of that da** valve. Anyway, what kind of quick fix can I do to kill the knocking sound until someone buys it? I know its wrong but it happened to me and Im not angry about it I just felt stupid. Thats a small price to pay for my impatience.

I thought about running straight pipes on it to drown out the tapping!lol

I think that I'm going to just fix the valves. I might consider buying that valve cover if I dont go to the junk yard soon. Did you say it was painted? If it isI might be able to sucker someone easier.lol. I'm assuming there is nothing wrong with it.

I don't need a "dummy guide" anymore. I don't even know why I asked in the first place. I guess it just seemed like you guys were more knowledgeable to me.

Its white? Part it out! I need a quarter panel and a fender lol... a few interior parts too. Youd prolly make more money parting it out than it would be worth as a whole

are you refering to the parts needed to fix your car? trani, valve cover, and new valves? eek well if you do all of the work yourself you are looking at betweeen 500 and 1000 for a new trani, valve cover you can get from me cheap, new OEM valves are relatively cheap but the labor will be a bitch... you'll have to pull the head, remove your axels, drop your trani... not fun. there is a trani on ebay right now for sale w/ 6 days and 13 hrs left. send a pm to him if you'd like.
