Default Dying Car

Ok... got a '95 Eclipse RS that I love with all my heart. I like driving hard and fast, and this car has been a great ride for me to do that in, until now. Went to a mechanic, because I started hearing clicking under the hood. He said that it was my engine block rattling, and that it basically meant that the engine was livin on borrowed time. I don't know exactly what's wrong, I just know that I am freakin out. I am a broke-assed college student. While I love my eclipse and would love to drop any amount of money into it to keep it alive, and make it faster or look nicer, I can't afford to make any mistakes with what little cash I can spare. My dilema becomes... do I put in a new engine or do I go for a newer car, possibly a newer eclipse? The mechanic has never screwed me over before, and has done much of the work not only on this vehicle, but on others of mine as well. My father's company trusts him, so I see no reason why I shouldn't as well. Any ideas guys? I am open to any and all suggestions.

if you need the extra cash you can always take out extra money with your school loans. Try nextstudent.com or salliemae.com.. they authorize a certain amount that the school allows you to take out (usually 10000 or more) and send the check straight to you. thats what I do. Yeah I'll be in debt when I get out of school but things always work out somehow

i gotta disagree about the student loans idea. student loans = highest rate possible and you will be in debt out your *** when it comes time to pay them back. oh, it could also be the lifters too, my car does that[&:]

Sebba, it sounds a lot like that, except not clicking at idle and it almost disappears between 3k and 3750 RPM. however, in that RPM range, it sounds like something is spinning outta control in the engine bay.

PS. Sorry for posting this twice... I am bad at forums... don't use them as much as I should

ok talk to me on AIM or something so i can find out a little more NitrousJunkie101

Its either that or a rod knock. Does the engine run any different? Like lack power or not want to climb over a certain rpm?
