Default Eclipse GS 96

Hi to all,

I'm from a small country in Europe called Slovenia and I just bought Mitsubishi Eclipse 96 GS.
Eclipse is an exotic where I live - there are only about 5 specimens in whole country
So, there is no mechanic who can tell me anything about my car . And I have a lot to ask
I would like to put my car in shape cause it was driven by a maniac who didn't put a cent on the car.

And now, my questions:
1. What breaks - disks do you prefer ?
2. What shock absorber ?
3. Seats (what do you think about recaro, will they fit in to my car ) ?
4. Taillights and headlights ( there is a lot of nice ones -angel eyes- are they any good ?
5. And finaly everything about engine and car (PDF) (Users Manual, Owners Guide,...)

And a few photos of my "new" car.

Well let's see I'll give my input into what I know.
1.) Brakes and disks are all dependant upon A.) Preference and B.) application Are you going to build the engine up or are you merely going to keep it as a daily driver? For daily driving I've always used VGX pads and the rotors I'd say use stock rotors. If you want to go performance I'd look into Brembo or Baer and maybe Monster green or red pads.

2.) Again shock absorber depends on the application. Performance I'd say go with Tien. Otherwise stock or Monroe should do fine for daily driving.

3.) Recaro should fit just fine. Seat is a matter of personal preference. I'd go looking at different seats sitting in them and finding ones you're comfortable with. Remember the seats need to be comfortable to YOU if you get seats that aren't comfortable but look good then plan on only taking the car to shows cuz you won't want to drive it. I believe nearly any seat can be adapted to fit the car if you get the rails and positioning right.

4.) Taillights and headlights... Again a matter of personal taste. I myself in my '92 Eclipse have nissan skyline taillights (Custom molding job done for THAT to work) and stock headlights (Can't find angel eyes for that old an Eclipse [sm=boohoo.gif]). I like the angel eye headlights though but make sure you get them from a reputable company I've heard of sets where one eye goes out and I don't think those can simply be changed like a bulb. I myself also like the projector headlights. As for the taillights I prefer to have no chrome at all on my cars so I look for the ones with a black background. The 2G Eclipses have TONS of taillights out there though. Check e-bay for them and find a set you like should be fairly easy then just search for a reputable company to get them from.

5.) Are you looking to find the original owners manuals? Or books about the engine? If you're looking for an owners manual I suggest searching again on e-bay. If it's a book you seek on the engine I'd recommend going to an auto parts store and buying a chilton's or Haynes manual (Chilton's being the prefered manual) . That should give you a good start on things there. Any more questions feel free to ask.

Thanks man for all the answers.
I'll keep my ride for daily driving only.
- One or two more things - I'd like to modify my interior (dashboard, doors, gagues with carbon), i've searched the e-bay, but found nothing. Do you have any idea where can I find it ?
- And about recaro sits measurements: 84cm height and 53 width (will they fit ???) and picture

Thanks again

Again for the seats it's more a matter of finding the rails that fit the car and match up to the seat. You should be able to easily do so. Either online or possibly have someone custom manufacture them.

Click this link for a carbon fiber dash kit.

This link SHOULD take you to the search I did that brought up all the interior pieces for the '95-'99 Eclipse.

I hope these help you out a bit.
