Eclipse GS-T or stock wit turbo??
Hey all im new to this forum thing...names cam...Anyway, ive been browsin around for a 97-98 Eclipse GS-T or GS-X...but i cant find any around 6,000. So i think i may have to go for an RS or GS or GT or something....I was wonderin, if i get a stock model and mod it up wit a turbo etc. will i get the same out of it as a turbo version such as the GS-T? or will the turbos always have the advantage...plus, how much will this turbo in addition cost me on a stock car???

hey man go with the gst or gsx... you will have way less problems down the road... a car that is factory turboed has a LOT less chance of having reliablility problems down the road due to the turbo.. if you plan on turboing a rs or gs plan on putting thousands more into the engine to build it to withstand a decent amount of boost... if you dont rebuild the gs/rs motor you will only be able to safely run about 5psi...

i have a question whoever could help me would be nice two nights ago my car jumped out of timing my cam gears jumped by a tooth and my oil spilled through the oil filter section and also my check engine light is on i ran the computer it read something like a fuel loop and i dont remember anything else though but it was all about the fuel system and i also only get maximum 150 miles per tank and theres a lag like it feels like it spools up and stops and then it gives a good push again i dont know if my injectors are bad or something my suspension is bad to so probably thats why i dont feel it that fast like before but im thinking if my fuel system aint right probably thats why it got all retarted and jumped out of time hope someone could give me an idea about it thanks its a 99 mitsubishi eclipse gs-t

For the timming problem, your screwed, I dont know how else to put You need to get the timming belt replaced along with the thesioner pully. Their is a good chance that you may have mashed or bent a valve. Most likley, if the car is still running the valve is bent. Also the car feels slow becuase the timming is all wacked out.

You wouldn't get the same ammount of power, because there engines are different, 420a and a 4g63 are very different. But if you wanted to turbo it it'd cost a lot and you would run very low boost without a engine rebuild and new internals. So my advice would to buy a dsm turbo and not try to turbo a nt because you will end up spending a lot of money.

Yep the gs engine is not as good as the gst, and building a car turbo from scratch is expensive and i assure you that you wil break, and
break, and break a lot of sht on you car before you can run it right

RE: Eclipse GS-T or stock wit turbo??
Just to give you an example, so far I have spent 7300 dollars on my car, and thats not including a rebuild, or the price of the car 5000. Right now I run aobut a 15.4. So for the price of a gst(12000) I have a boosted rs. That cant pump up to boost past 10 psi untill I get a new motor.... another 2k.
