Eclipse GST over Mustang GT

Eclipse GST over Mustang GT
okay guys, since my brother thinks he's all that with his mustang GT (stock), i want to know once i find and purchase my future eclipse GST (just sold my GS) what will need to be done to it to shut him up. we know that a stock gst is 210hp and 214trq while the mustang is 260hp/302trq. but in favor to the eclipse its about 350 lbs lighter than a mustang. The weight alone obviosly is not enough to compinsate for all that cubic inch in a mustang, so what do ya all think needs to be done? Just intake? Intake/exhaust?.... i'll prob take out the back seat and spare tire to shave off another 20-25 lbs, but still isent enough. I'll just give it a shot of the bottle if necessary, but would not be my first choice. seriously, i just want to shut him up. He's a nice guy and all, but i'm tired of it. PLZZZ tell me what you think will get it on top the best and how much it will cost. Thanks for everything! [8D]

oh yeah, i left that out... he's got an automatic so i thought that could give me a little edge cause i think they loose about half a second on the 0-60 with an automatic. I will not buy anything but a stick though. It's a 2002 mustang GT. I'm going to look at my potential car today (red gst).

you're gonna need intake, exhaust, bov and boost controller and you'll give him a good run IF you know how do drive, launching a gst isnt very easy and mustangs are gonna have the advantage from 3rd gear on even after the mods. a gsx would beat him no matter what up to 70-80 mph around the street but dont mess with him on the freeway.

Yea, an auto 2002 even though it's a GT isn't amazing. I've always been a huge mustang person but a stock 4.6 isn't as fast as people think. It should run between 14 and 15, closer to 15 with the auto. Plust those stangs are really heavy as you said above. You're not gonna be too far away from him to begin with as far as messing around on the street, and if you shift and launch well you could probably give him a good run. You'll def need to get used to the car though. You can't just hammer it off the line or you'll loose traction to the front tires and they'll spin. You have to get going then hammer it and let the turbo do the work.

hmm i dont kno where you guys are getting your information but a gt runs 14.0 in the quarter mile, yea thats stick but still they are quick, and a lot quicker than a dsm on the freeway. my neighbor has one and trust me i know first hand.

RE: Eclipse GST over Mustang GT
No..a GT doesnt run 14 flat stock in the quarter with an Auto...a guy i work with has a Modded 96 GT auto, and he only runs 14.50s...and i get my information from the track...and for that matter,,,any article...the NEW GT may run 14 flat..but none of the Foxes or the 2 gen after that will with an auto.

RE: Eclipse GST over Mustang GT
I don't agree with the 14 flat but the 96 isn't a good example cause it doesn't have the hp the 2002's did (not a big differance but that's the first year they had the 4.6) and those years were also a lot heavier than the 2002 style. I have seen a well kept 93 LX 5.0 notchback which is extremely light compared to other stangs with just a few mods run just under 14 with a good driver and a stick. A 2002 with an auto, a hell of a lot more weight, and only limited amounts of more hp is not going to match that. Also we all have to remember we're from differant places in the country and environmental conditions can have a lot to do with times.
