EGR Control Solnoid
I was adjusting my BISS, and I noticed this ticking, and I couldn't figure out what it was. I put my screw driver on the EGR, and put my ear on the handle, and I could hear the tick coming from it. Why would that solnoid be ticking like that? Any one have any idea? Is this common? Thanks.

EGR is a soleniod. There is going to be a bit of a tick from it. That's how soleniods work (Hard to explain) but when it's getting louder it may just be the soleniod going bad. Think about it every time you turn the key to actuate the starter you hear a tick beore it starts kicking over. That's the starter soleniod.
Well, it's just a small solnoid bolted to the firewall on the driver's side.
I'm pretty sure it's not my injectors, but how can I be for sure?
Thanks.

How loud is the tick? I have never heard of a egr valve being loud, plus it does not kick in untill high RPM's. If you can get a video of the tick or a pciture and show wheres its coming from, that would help.
Well.. i got a idea, try unplugging the solenoid that you think is making the sound. I mean EGR is only a emissions control, so it really wont effect any performance. If there was a problem with the EGR the ECU would through a code and the CEL would come on. I really dont thing there is anything to worry about. Im just curious to how loud that ticking is? I believe the other solenoid is the fuel pressure.
