My wife's Outlander's "Service Engine Soon" light came on over the week end. I keep the car maintaned well . I went ahead and took it to the dealer , they had the car in the shop for about 45 min. and said that they reset the EGR valve. I have never heard of resetting an EGR valve , I have replaced them and maybe reset the computer but not reset them. The car has 33,200 miles .

Any feedback on this ?

 

to reset the CEL just unhook your NEG from the battery for about 10 mins or more and it resets when power is hooked back up.... if there is still a problem the CEL will come back on after some time.

 

my "service engine soon" light just came on on my 98 eclipse. I can reset it by unhooking the battery for ten minutes? I'm gonna go give it a try now. thanks

 

EGR is due for replacement, not re-setting. wow....[:-] if we can reset it, hey!! thats cool!!! that will save some money and time. and deff. will do it my self.
