Default Electric Supercharger 2.4L I4

I don't have much money to spend, but I want to add some hp. I have cold air intake and headers, getting exhaust. I have seen some electric superchargers on ebay for around $150. Will one of these add some hp for my 2001 2.4L eclipse RS? if so, how much can i expect?

Don't buy that. First of all that is not a supercharger. A real supercharger will cost you at least $3,000. Secondly, nobody makes superchargers for Mitsubishi. You can however buy a turbo for your eclipse, but that will still run kinda of high. Be careful on ebay, a lot of people sell junk they claim will add horsepower. All that product is, is a K&N conefilter with an electric fan blowing air into it. The filter alone probably gains 2 to 3 horsepower and I bet the fan may add 1 or 2 more but not what they claim. You already have an intake, and probably get the same if not better depending if its a short ram or cold air. For now I'd stick with what you got and put in that exhaust system. You can also do cam shafts, cam gears, pulley kits, ground wires, etc to add a little bit more horsepower.

A cold air will give you more power, as the piping is longer and is further away from your engine, which will produce the cold air. The short ram will give less because it's smaller and is usually a small elbow that will get a mixture of warm and cold air going into your engine. I think it's just up to the person whether you want cold air or a short ram. The only thing bad about cold air intakes is that you have a chance of getting water sucked in and into your engine. I would use the AEM bypass valve if you have an intake from them, or the INJEN brand water cover to protect your intake.

Hey Thanks for all your input I looked into that "Thomas Knight Turbos" and found the site http://www.boosthead.com/home.php.

They have electric blowers for my car for $1000.00 Says it gives a boost of 75hp. That is about what I am looking for. Thanks alot.

If your looking to upgrade your horsepower by 75, make sure that you have a stronger clutch that can handle it like a stage 2 clutch.

I'm not sure for automatics. I checked out the supercharger on that website and it sounds good. I'm just not sure about having to recharge the battery twice a week. I use my car for regular driving, but I guess if you were going to use it for racing only, then it would be worth it.
