Default engine break in/transmission life

I know that procedure for breaking in the engine, but what type of oil should I use for the first 500 miles? I was reading somewhere that you should use non synthetic.

Also, how long do you guys think my transmission will last with this new set-up (4g63/64 hybrid) on 25-30psi. I have a few track days coming up and i'd like to be able to drive my car home afterwards with all the gears intact.

Thanks guys

this is under the assumption that the engine is tuned. So, eliminating that I'm only worried about the drivetrain: transmission, axles, transfer case, rear diff. Since I haven't done anything to upgrade those

Yes you ONLY use cheap non-synthetic oil for the breakin period.

And your drivetrain should be fine as long as your not totally beating on it, as in Dumping the clutch and trying to hardshift gears.

Read this:

I have stood by this method for years now, and it hasn't gone wrong for anyone I know.
