Engine Modification... HELP!
The 1st gens all use the 4g63 with non turbo and turbo models of that engine. The 2nd gens have a 420a motor for the non turbo cars and the turbo models use the 4g63. The 2nd gens also use the 4g64 in the Spyder GS models. The 1st gens are lighter than the 2nd gens and the motor differs slightly so it has a bit more potential than the 2nd gens.

Engine Modification... HELP!
WHOA!!! Go with the 4g63??? 4G64 is the hot swap now in the dsm community! Why not get a car that has the engine in it already??? Almost everything is compatible between the 4g63 and 4g64 engines. Only things that are different are some shortblock internals(which are ONLYPISTONS and CRANK, YOU CAN USE THE 1G BIG RODS!!!!). Heads are compatible, which means mani's are compatible, which means the 4G64 can take anything the 4g63 can take. Get a Spyder GS, and swap the head and do a turbo conversion. It'll only cost you around $2500 for it all. Throw in forged pistons and you can get a 4g64engine that will meet or beat any 4g63 it comes across. Plus you'll pay less in isurance!!! Awesome!!!

Sorry if all that seems a little intense or offensive...i get kinda worked up when i hear a 4g63 vs. 4g64 discussion!

Engine Modification... HELP!
I did the conversion for the 4g64 block. My block is still stock for the moment due to a lack of funds. I did most of the assembly of the motor, but I wouldn't even start to know how to do the electronics portion. I am a total loss with that. Its not a hard conversion to do at all. Quite fun actually.

Not in terms of "power", but which has more potential. The 4g64 has more potential since it has 20%more displacement and you won't have to rev ashigh to get all the power.

Spyderman, there are no electrical modifications necessary for the swap. Make sure and get some forged pistons though, the stockers can't go above 8 psi without a standalone. Also, which block are you using?

Engine Modification... HELP!
haha. Well there were with mine because I tried to send it to have it done at a shop and they were taking too long so I got the car back. Once I got it back I found out they had pulled the entire motor out of the car. So i had to piece it back together on my own and it was mostly new to me at the time so I had to get some help with it. I didn't know quite as much as I do now, yet I still don't know everything and don't claim to.
