Default engine rebuild

ok so i havent driving my eclipse in about 4 months. i let my little brother (who is ecomeing a mech. work on my car) change my head gasket and timing belt along with a few other things. well, as i have said havent drivin it in a few months. so now he cant figure out what is wrong with it. i was concidering just rebuilding it myself. its got 130,805m on it. and i hope to keep her for a good long time. so how hard would it b to compeatly rebuild the engine. i dont want to put a 6-bolt in. im not a pro at the whole mech. thing but i can do a lot with it. but rebuilding the engine would be my biggest project ever. how hard would it b? and how much do you think it would cost to take this on? and how many hours on average do you think it would b. i do have plans at some point to put a bigger turbo on with all the supporting mods, but that proibly wouldnt come for a few months maybe at the end of the build. tnx for any input you give me

now there is hissing sound when the car idels at 200 rmp then dies. it idels ok for a little bit then jumps around to 200 then caput. the timing is perfect. we think it might b that the head didnt seal all the way but not 100% sure and if i have to do it again it would be easyer if the engine was out + i could rebuild it so i could keep it for a while

Sounds like time to me.

Honestly a 6 bolt swap would be easier than rebuilding the motor

I had same issue and timing was 180deg out what this means is the valves are opening on compression stroke.

Im not saying this is the issue just something to look at.
