Your engine can come out through the top . You'll have to remove the hood .You should check your oil pressure.

It would help if you told us what your running for a setup and what kind of eclipse/year..

I just pulled my motor out last night and we pulled it out from the top. The easiest is pulling the tranny out with it..

ok I researched crankwalk on then web it sound like the motors are turbocharged and 2g engine with manuel trans. I have a 99 eclipse with a stock 420a engine non turbo auto trans. Is there any crankwalk problems for that engine? I suspect the kid that this car I bought it from ran it with out oil or it has a blown headgasket.

no it shouldn't be crankwalk.... i've never heard of a crankwalk case in a 420a but theoretically it is possible for it to happen. OK. atown tried to jack your thread instead of opening his own [:@]so you are running a stock 420a right? it's most likely a spun bearing. these cars have weak bearings from the factory. if its coming from the bottom of the engine i'd bet my left big toe it's a spun bearing.
OH and 99.9% of 420a's will blow their had gaaskets at some point b/c of the facotry not tightening down the stockhead boltsin the corners. I owned mine for 2 1/2 years and mine blew on about 110k miles.
