Alright, so after driving for about 200 miles without boosting to let my new turbo warm up, I finally decided to see how it would feel to go full throttle. When I punched it, according to my aftermarket boost gauge, it went up past 12 PSI, my stock level, and into the 20 range. At this point, I got scared and let my foot off. Before I changed the turbo, my stock T25 was running at 12 PSI max. Why is this newer turbo boosting so much? It is a genuine MHI ported and clipped Evo3 Big 16G.

Do you have a boost controller? Stock or aftermarket exhaust?

i dont have a mbc and i am running the apexi n1 exhaust.

Did you buy the turbo brand new? Did you check it for any cracks?

yea bought it brand new from fp during their group buy. i did inspect it for any damage when it came

Try bypassing the boost control solenoid and run a vacuum hose right to the wastgate. It should ony boost to around 9-10psi.

What you are experiencing is called boost creep.

When you bought this turbo, did you get the 34mm flapper, or just the 32mm?

sebba, im not too sure which flapper. i called and just bought one over the phone with clipped and ported. and i have thought about the possibility of boost creep but would it creep up to 20+? i thought it would only overboost 3 or 4 lbs over and then drop?

and dsm, i will try that
