Hey everybody, i have a 99' Mits Eclipse GS 10th Edition. i pretty much have all of my cosmetics done to the outside (for now) with a balistics (drift) style body kit, and a carbon fiber hood. However im looking to start on the most important thing... UNDER the hood! I'm kinda lost on what to do first though, im thinking about going for the mods that help the car breath, Cold Air Intake, Header, and Exhaust. but after that im lost. also do you have any suggestions on name brands on either of those upgrades i mentioned??? I hear that a stock DOHC 4-cylinder can only get up to about 200HP fully stocked w/ mods. do you think that an engine swap would be a good idea? and if so, when should i do this? and what kind and size would you suggest???? ALSO does anybody know where i can get a 14.V Alternator so i can power my JL Audio Amps??? thanks everybody

 

lol it isn't a 14V alty your looking for. What you want is a higher out put alty. First which amp and how many did you get. You might not need one and maybe just add another battery to your set up.

 

general rule if it is about 1000W total power @12Volts you will be fine if more get a capcitor that will fix the problem untill about 4000W. if it is 1000W or less buy a drycell battery and it will fix the problem.

 

yea when i went to the local performance shop today they were telling me that i needed a higher amp output, not volts. i have 1 1000x1, and 2 500x2 JL audio amps. they will be pushing my 2 12w7 12' subs, my set of jl components, and coaxials. how about mods. i know the first thing im doin is my exhaust so i have something decent to listen to, instead of a remote control car sound... then im saving up for my turbo. but in the mean time are there any other somewhat minor things i can do? i was reading a little on fuel filtrs today, are there "performance" fuel filters out there?? and if so, any suggested brands??

 

IMO caps don't do anything unless where talking about BAT Caps. 1 Farad or even 3 will do nothing for you. I push 2000RMS and just for kicks I installed a cap. The stinger 30 farad or something like that. Did not help with dimming at all and I am only at 2ohms. Upgraded my alty and I was good to go.
