My Eclipse GS-T gets worse gas mileage than my Jeep Cherokee LOL...but I don't take it on long trips, just cruise around town..I also run 93 octane in it.

a lot of things affect the gas mileage. Low tire pressure, bad o2 sensors, clogged air filter, fuel filter, or injectors. Think of gas mileage as the amount of gas the car has to burn to move efficiently. So, everything that makes it harder for the computer to make the correct a/f ratio, or makes it harder for the car to move, would affect the gas mileage.
