Also try spraying some PB Blaster or WD40 into the lock and work it with the key and if you get it open, spray some lithium grease in there to keep it lubed.
You need to make sure it is the main key, and not the "backup" (A.K.A vallet key). The vallet key will only open the driver side door and start the car. It won't open the glove box, the hatch, or the passenger side door.
