GST front wheel drive to all wheel drive conversion
Hey guys, I tried searchin for this post already and couldnt find anything, so i apologize if it's been asked before and i just missed it... but I was wondering how possible it would be to convert a gst front wheel drive into an all-wheel drive car like the gsx... i mean, that's basically the only difference between the two cars, right? and i know it'd almost just be worth to get the gsx, but if i can fin da cheap gst, and a junkyard gsx i could just swap it... lemme know! thanks!

you were right in saying it would be worth it to just get the gsx, but making the gst awd is not as easy as just swapping out some parts. there is a lot of fab and s*it that you would have to do and it would be a pain in the *** and not worth the money at all. when you do that kinda conversion your just asking for problems

i know that you don't have a spyder but so you know for the futur, it's not as hard in a Spyder and i've seen 3 or 4 of them on steetfire and other vid sites. it's 3-4k swap in a Spyder.

The frame is diff. in the spyder... you can find out a little more about it in the Targa top thread... I thought AWD convertible 2Gs were impossible forever...

It's not that costly if it's done as a DIY guys. A GSX/AWD TSi parts car is suggested so that you won't have to go back and forth to get missed parts and it also makes the swap easier so that you have a referrence car at hand. It's not entirely needed though.
The main pieces are an AWD tranny (everything to go with it), driveshaft, support components, rear suspension parts, AWD gas tank, etc.
