Default GSX help

I want to put a turbo timer on my gsx. Which do you think is the best one to get? And can I install it myself or do I need to get it professionally done? Also the driver of this car left it alone pretty much but since they are prone to problems I want to preserve the turbo/engine , ect while I can. What else can I add on to help it last and run better? (gauges, intakes, whatever, ect.?)

The amount of items to "make it run better" in terms of parts/gauges/etc. so far to vast for anyone with time to list.

The Apex'i AutoTimer is the one I have, it was pretty decent to install being that you also have to buy a wiring harness for it and most other turbotimers for your model car.
